helping the destitute
A road to misery
The most destitute in society with no gov or societal help are exposed to the extremities of hunger, sickness and a slow agonizing death.
Seble is a 30 years old widow that is HIV+. She has 5 kids to raise. She has no schooling and no skill. Her husband was a daily laborer and died of AIDS. There is no income but when she has the strength she washes clothes by hand for others to get a meager pay. The kids need food and schooling. Without intervention the kids end up street children that will scar them for life. The girls get abused and be vulnerable to HIV infection or get forced to prostitution, give birth to kids of unknown men and the cycle of poverty keeps on multiplying.
Hana is a 28 years old widow that is HIV+. She is already skin and bones weakened by the virus. She has a daughter that is 8 years old and was born infected with HIV. The child is also deaf. With no gov or social support you can imagine the misery.
There are full orphans and half orphans in desperate need, a disabled widow and widower with kids that have a bleak future, a blind mother with kids begging on the street. The kids are born into misery and without intervention you can imagine what awaits them.
To the able bodied we enroll them for a skill training and give them some start up funding to position them earn a living. During the training a sponsorship support is given so that the kids get food and schooling.
For those widows or widowers that are incapacitated and can’t be trained their family is given a monthly sponsorship to preserve the family so that the kids won’t end up on the street.
Making a difference
We have 50 families sponsored and more in need waiting for intervention. $30/month is all it takes to change misery to triumph.
